Job summary

CSX is seeking Freight Conductors to safely coordinate train crews, move rail cars for loading, and makeup/breakdown trains in yard and customer facilities. New hires may join a pipeline during hiring.

Responsibilities include adherence to FRA rules, equipment inspection, and effective communication with yardmasters and engineers. Training at the Atlanta center is provided, with a paid four-week program and hotel accommodations.

Qualifications

• Must be 18+ years old and have a high school diploma or GED.
• One year of related experience required.
• Ability to read and comprehend operating rules, bulletins and regulatory documents.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with FRA regulations, railroad signals and train orders.
• Inspect equipment on cars prior to departures.
• Receive and transmit information by radio and telephone.
• Read bulletins, work orders and switch lists.
• Assist with coupling/uncoupling and minor repairs to railcars.
