Job summary

CPKC is hiring for September 2026 for a conductor position. This role operates within a union framework and involves wiring moves, switching cars, and yard service as needed. You will work outdoors in all weather and may be away from home for extended periods.

Qualifications

• Must be able to walk long distances and lift up to 80 pounds
• Willingness to work unscheduled shifts in a 24/7 environment
• Able to work up to 12 hour shifts including nights, weekends and holidays
• Must be at least 18 years old and legally eligible to work in the U.S.
• Requires basic reading of safety instructions and operating rules in English

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a train crew in either yard or train service
• Coordinate switching of cars and movements as directed
• Observe signals and relay movements to the crew via radio or signals
• Provide flag protection and emergency signals when needed
• Complete train orders and switch lists and report findings clearly
