Job summary

BNSF is hiring a Conductor Trainee in Memphis, TN. You will support train operations, learn switching, signaling, and safety procedures while traveling across designated regions. The role requires on-call hours and potential overtime, with comprehensive training provided at BNSF’s site.

Expect up to 40+ hours weekly in a safety-sensitive environment, with on-site tasks, manual labor, and travel to training centers as needed. Relocation not offered; probation applies.

Qualifications

• Able to obtain/maintain employment authorization in the U.S.
• At least 18 years old by start date.
• Able to report for duty at designated work location.
• Able to work safely in described conditions and hours.
• Ability to read/write and communicate in English.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 80 pounds.
• Ability to read signals and judge speed/distances.
• Ability to distinguish colors and see at night.
• Ability to work in safety-sensitive environment and shifts.

Responsibilities

• Communicate information via multiple devices, monitor and report daily work.
• Operate track switches and derails to route trains.
• Inspect trains and equipment per federal regulations, report conditions.
• Work in diverse weather and safety-focused environment.
