Job summary

BNSF Railway is hiring for Conductor Trainee in St. Louis. This full-time role supports the Transportation Department, learning to manage train operations, comply with safety standards, and contribute to safe freight movement using real-time data coordination.

The position involves on-call duties, nights, weekends, and holidays, with 19 weeks of training including travel to Overland Park, KS. Strong safety focus and physical ability are required.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write and communicate in English.
• Able to work now and in the future without sponsorship.
• Able to work the stated shift/hours and meet travel requirements.
• Able to lift and carry up to 80 pounds.
• Able to climb ladders and work at various heights.
• Ability to interpret signals and judge speed and distance.

Responsibilities

• Communicate information orally and in writing, monitor and report daily work.
• Operate track switches and derails to change train routing and ensure proper alignment.
• Inspect trains and equipment per federal regulations and report condition changes.
• Work in a safety-sensitive environment under diverse weather and noisy conditions.
