Job summary

BNSF is seeking a Conductor Trainee in Kansas City, MO. The role trains to manage train operations, signals, and safety protocols, with on-call duties 24/7 and potential travel. Training includes both on-the-job and classroom work at BNSF’s training center in Overland Park, KS.

Location is primarily Kansas City with relocation not offered, and a multi-week training path leading to full conductor responsibilities. The position is full-time, with seasonal considerations and a 60-day probation.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write and communicate in English.
• Able to work in safety-sensitive environment.
• Must be physically able to lift up to 80 pounds.
• Willing to travel and stay in region as required.
• Able to climb and work on equipment at various heights.

Responsibilities

• Communicate information via oral and written channels; monitor and report daily work.
• Operate track switches and derails to route trains and verify alignment.
• Inspect trains and equipment per federal regulations and report conditions.
• Work in all weather and safety-sensitive environments; adhere to PPE and safety rules.
