Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and/or work experience.
• Ability to work in outdoor conditions and in a 24/7 environment.

Responsibilities

• Receives and works under a certified trainer.
• Conduct railcar and train movements; signal crew using lantern, hand, flag, or radio for movement commands.
• Observe, interpret and relay signals affecting train movement.
• Operate track switches and apply/release hand brakes as needed.
• Read rules, timetables, orders, waybills and safety instructions.
• Prepare daily reports and switch lists.
• Inspect train and equipment in movement and at rest.
• Couple air and electrical connections between locomotives.
• Assist with other projects and duties as assigned.
