Job summary

Cando Rail & Terminals in the United States is seeking a Switchman/Conductor to provide safe, efficient rail car switching services in a fast-paced outdoor environment.

You will operate locomotives, switches, derails, and perform inspections while maintaining teamwork, safety, and customer service; shifts are 2 on, 2 off, 2 on, 6 PM–6 AM.

Qualifications

• Experience as Locomotive Operator or Switchman preferred.
• Customer-oriented background is preferred.
• Ability to obtain necessary certification and pass drug/alcohol and medical clearances.
• Ability to read and write safety briefings and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe operation of locomotive and train movements; conduct briefings.
• Operate switches/derails; manage air hoses and brakes.
• Provide protection of train, track and equipment.
• Perform inspections, including air brake tests.
• Complete daily reports and logs for customer and company.
• Promote safe work habits and teamwork; deliver excellent service.
