Qualifications

• Must be able to pass and/or obtain all reporting, testing, and certifications as required for this position.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English; understand basic math.
• Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily and work in a manual labor environment.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate predictable, reliable, and timely attendance.
• Read, write, and communicate in English; follow directions to complete tasks.
• Supervise and coordinate the activities of train crews.
• Notify engineer of switching orders and move cars as directed.
• Talk to crew via radio to relay switching information.
• Confer with dispatcher to receive instructions for stops or delays.
• Operate switches and couple/uncouple cars; assist with switching operations.
• Maintain records of cars switched (origin, destination, cargo).
• Observe tracks for obstructions and report equipment issues.
