Responsibilities

• Control and coordinate train movements while switching railcars to service customers.
• Read, understand, and follow switching orders and railroad signals.
• Supervise and coordinate activity of train crews in yard or cab.
• Operate locomotive and adjust throttle and brakes per rules to switch cars.
• Maintain records of cars switched, origin, destination, and cargo.
