Job summary

GFT is seeking a Bridge Engineer - Rail to join our Transportation Team in the United States. The role involves leading complex rail bridge design, rehabilitation, and inspection, with opportunities on Class I railroads and transit projects across multiple locations including Boston, Chicago, and more.

You will perform structural analysis using AREMA standards, prepare load ratings, construction documents, and estimates, and collaborate in multi-disciplinary teams while supporting field

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil/structural engineering from ABET-accredited university.
• PE License required; experience with AREMA manual highly preferred.
• 4+ years in structural design for Class I and transit bridges.
• Proficiency with structural design software and MS Office.
• Willingness to travel across the continental United States.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural bridge analysis and design using AREMA and owner standards; calculate quantities.
• May inspect railway/highway bridges and ensure design accuracy.
• Prepare load ratings, construction documents, specifications, and estimates.
• Quality control: ensure work meets budgets, schedules and company standards.
• Assist with CADD drawing development and production.
• Document and organize design calculations per QA plan; travel as required.
