Job summary
Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Radiotherapy Engineer (Band 6) to join the Radiotherapy Engineering Group. The post primarily based at the Freeman Hospital/NCCC will involve maintenance of radiotherapy equipment and ongoing clinical support across sites.
The role requires engineering expertise, clinical equipment knowledge, and a proactive approach to safety, quality control and service delivery within a multidisciplinary team.
Qualifications
- Post graduate knowledge of engineering gained through experience.
- Proficiency with IT software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
- Specialist knowledge of medical or scientific equipment.
- Understanding of safe handling techniques in clinical and non-clinical settings.
- Knowledge of clinical hazards and infection control.
Responsibilities
- Maintenance of radiotherapy and ancillary equipment.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance on treatment machines.
- Accurate fault diagnosis and effective repairs.
- Monitor trends for equipment reliability.
- Quality control of radiotherapy systems.
- Work within a Quality Management System.
- Undertake quality control for equipment.
- Support provision of Radiotherapy Engineering Service.
- Participate in research development projects when required.
