Job summary

NC State University’s Radiology Veterinary Assistant role supports diagnostic imaging and patient care across the CVM Teaching Hospital. The position collaborates with clinicians, students, and staff to ensure efficient imaging workflows and high-quality care for a range of animal patients.

The role requires completion of an accredited training program, with preferred experience in a teaching hospital radiology setting and strong time-management skills to manage fast-paced schedules.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited training program in the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Preferred: experience as a veterinary technician in a teaching hospital.
• Preferred: experience working in a veterinary hospital’s radiology department.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care and clinical support including assessment, restraint, transport and monitoring.
• Supports diagnostic imaging procedures and equipment operation and maintenance.
• Maintains readiness, safety, and regulatory compliance in imaging areas.
• Coordinates patient care and departmental workflow across services.
• Provides education and infection-control support to staff and students.
• Physical demand: ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
