Job summary

The role requires completion of an accredited training program, with preferred experience in a teaching hospital radiology setting and strong time-management skills to manage fast-paced schedules.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited training program in the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Preferred: experience as a veterinary technician in a teaching hospital.
• Preferred: experience working in a veterinary hospital’s radiology department.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care and clinical support including assessment, restraint, transport and monitoring.
• Supports diagnostic imaging procedures and equipment operation and maintenance.
• Maintains readiness, safety, and regulatory compliance in imaging areas.
• Coordinates patient care and departmental workflow across services.
• Provides education and infection-control support to staff and students.
• Physical demand: ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

The Radiology Department provides diagnostic imaging support to a variety of patients across our campus including small, large and exotic species, offering exposure to an array of cases and advanced medical procedures.

In the role you will interact with internal specialty services requiring radiology support and their respective staff, clinicians and students to provide coordination, departmental structure, and assist with veterinary care for all patients associated with the anesthesia service.

Direct duties include, but are not limited to:

• Provides direct patient care and clinical support, including patient assessment, restraint, transport, positioning, venipuncture, sample collection, medication administration, basic treatments, and continuous monitoring before, during, and after diagnostic imaging procedures.
• Supports diagnostic imaging procedures and specialized equipment, including digital radiography, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, and patient monitoring equipment; assists with equipment operation, routine inspection, cleaning, troubleshooting, and documentation to ensure safe and effective clinical use.
• Maintains departmental readiness, safety, and regulatory compliance by stocking supplies, preparing and maintaining imaging areas, and adhering to hospital, infection prevention, infectious disease, OSHA , EHS , and radiation safety policies and training requirements.
• Coordinates patient care and departmental workflow by supporting daily imaging schedules, maintaining accurate patient and procedure information within hospital information systems, documenting patient care and diagnostic procedures, and supporting patients across multiple veterinary specialty services.
• Provides education, communication, and infection-control support through orientation and coaching of staff, students, interns, and residents; adherence to protocols for infectious and antibiotic-resistant patients; and monitoring, communication, and documentation related to infectious disease and ongoing nosocomial testing.
• Physical Demand: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations.
