Qualifications

  • Graduate of a Radiologic Technologist program approved by ARRT and AMA.
  • Minimum of one year experience as an x-ray tech with an orthopedic background.
  • ARRT registry eligible; CPR certification recommended.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates competency in positioning radiologic procedures as prescribed.
  • Communicates with patients to explain procedures and obtain history.
  • Positions patients and selects exposure factors with radiation protection.
  • Logs procedures, processes charges and related paperwork using computers.
  • Maintains cleanliness of examination rooms and stocks supplies.
  • Follows all OrthoCarolina policies and procedures.
  • Assists with transportation of patients between modules and radiology.
  • Assists with patient flow in examination modules as directed.

We have an opportunity for a Part-Time (28 hours per week) Radiology Technologist in our OrthoCarolina University office. The schedule for this position is 12-hour shifts from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM on Tuesdays and Fridays, with every other weekend coverage from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

The Radiology Technologist will provide diagnostic quality radiographs for physicians and/or physician assistants while protecting employees and patients from unnecessary radiation and usage of appropriate protection standards.

Essential Functions:
  • Demonstrates competency in positioning of all radiological procedures as prescribed by departmental policy.
  • Communicates with patients to explain procedures, obtain clinical history, confirm acknowledgment of patients' understanding and address any questions or concerns.
  • Positions patients and selects exposure factors for various radiologic examinations and provides patient with radiation protection and safety in accordance with prescribed methods.
  • Logs radiological procedures completed, processes charges and related paperwork using computer equipment as directed.
  • Maintains cleanliness of examination rooms and stocks necessary medical and/or radiological supplies in the department.
  • Compliance with all OrthoCarolina policy and procedures.
  • Assists with the transportation of patients between the examination module(s) and the Radiology department.
  • Assist with patient flow in the examination module(s) as directed by a supervisor.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to operate various manufacturer types of Radiology suite equipment, (i.e. Siemens/GE/Philips).
  • Skill in proficient use of various manufacturer types of Digital Radiology (DR) and Computer Radiology (CR) reader systems.
  • Skill in identifying equipment problems and correcting or notifying supervisor.
  • Skill in positioning patients properly and performing quality diagnostic radiographs.
  • Observes safety and security procedures.
Qualifications:
  • Graduate of a Radiologic Technologist program approved by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and the American Medical Association.
  • Minimum of one year experience as an x-ray tech with an orthopedic background.
  • Professional license or certification requirements: Registered Radiology Tech by American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (AART) or ARRT registry eligible. Current CPR certification recommended.
