Job summary

OrthoCarolina in Gastonia is seeking a Radiology Technologist to provide diagnostic quality radiographs while ensuring radiation safety. The role supports physicians and physician assistants across orthopedic settings.

The position requires completing a registered radiologic technologist program, at least one year of orthopedic radiography experience, and ARRT certification or eligibility. A CPR certificate is recommended. This is a full-time, 12-hour shift role with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Radiologic Technologist program approved by ARRT and AMA.
• Minimum of one year experience as an x-ray tech with orthopedic background.
• ARRT registration or registry eligibility; CPR certification recommended.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates competency in positioning radiological procedures.
• Communicates with patients to explain procedures and obtain history.
• Positions patients and selects exposure factors with radiation protection.
• Logs procedures, processes charges and paperwork.
• Maintains cleanliness of examination rooms and stocks supplies.
• Compliance with OrthoCarolina policies.
• Assists with patient transportation between modules and radiology department.
• Assists with patient flow as directed by a supervisor.

We have an opportunity for a full-time (12 hour days) Radiology Technologist in our OrthoCarolina Gastonia OUC office. The Radiology Technologist will provide diagnostic quality radiographs for physicians and/or physician assistants while protecting employees and patients from unnecessary radiation and usage of appropriate protection standards.

Essential Functions

• Demonstrates competency in positioning of all radiological procedures as prescribed by departmental policy.
• Communicates with patients to explain procedures, obtain clinical history, confirm acknowledgment of patients' understanding and address any questions or concerns.
• Positions patients and selects exposure factors for various radiologic examinations and provides patient with radiation protection and safety in accordance with prescribed methods.
• Logs radiological procedures completed, processes charges and related paperwork using computer equipment as directed.
• Maintains cleanliness of examination rooms and stocks necessary medical and/or radiological supplies in the department.
• Compliance with all OrthoCarolina policy and procedures.
• Assists with the transportation of patients between the examination module(s) and the Radiology department.
• Assist with patient flow in the examination module(s) as directed by a supervisor.

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to operate various manufacturer types of Radiology suite equipment, (i.e. Siemens/GE/Philips).
• Skill in proficient use of various manufacturer types of Digital Radiology (DR) and Computer Radiology (CR) reader systems.
• Skill in identifying equipment problems and correcting or notifying supervisor.
• Skill in positioning patients properly and performing quality diagnostic radiographs.
• Observes safety and security procedures.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Radiologic Technologist program approved by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and the American Medical Association.
• Minimum of one year experience as an x-ray tech with an orthopedic background.
• Professional license or certification requirements: Registered Radiology Tech by American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (AART) or ARRT registry eligible. Current CPR certification recommended.
