X-Ray Technologist PRN

The Radiology Technologist performs diagnostic radiographic procedures adhering to the principles of radiation protection, according to local, state, and federal standards.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Properly identifies patient and exam, performs diagnostic radiographic services with care, and evaluates the technical quality.
  2. Responsible for technical continuity of care and education of radiological procedures to patients.
  3. Demonstrates competency in RIS/HIS modules relevant to their responsibilities.
  4. Assists in gathering and recording data for Radiology Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement programs.
  5. Ensures all equipment and supplies necessary for their area are available.
  6. Adheres to downtime procedures to maintain continuity of care.
  7. Participates in professional development through inservices and continuing education.
  8. Provides educational information to patients regarding their examinations.
  9. Ensures annual peer review of films meets department standards.
  10. Maintains knowledge of patient condition, history, and relevant background information.
  11. Ensures quality of digital images sent to PACS and verifies patient and medical record accuracy.
  12. Contributes to achieving hospital Press Ganey scores by providing patient education and personalized business cards; sends apology cards when expectations are not met.
Physical and Sensory Requirements:

Frequent use of fingers and hands, walking or standing for up to 8 hours, lifting patients up to 300 pounds with assistance, lifting objects up to 30 pounds, stooping, crouching, bending, lifting arms above shoulder level, hearing, and seeing normally.

Education:

Graduate from an ARRT-recognized program, ARRT registered, or ARRT registry eligible. Must pass registry within 1 year of hire.

Training and Experience:

Experience preferred; ongoing training required. Must rotate through all diagnostic radiology areas. Current CPR certification and computer experience required.
