Job Description

This posting serves as a general site for all MRI applications within the Jefferson Health North region, including:

  • Abington Memorial Hospital
  • Jefferson Landsdale Hospital
  • Einstein Montgomery Hospital
  • Jefferson Northeast Hospital locations (Bucks, Torresdale, Frankford)
Position: MRI Technologist

Under the supervision of a radiologist, performs magnetic resonance imaging procedures to produce detailed tissue images for diagnosis. Prepares information for physicians and care teams, and provides patient care and education before, during, and after procedures.

Essential Functions
  • Interact professionally with co-workers, visitors, and staff, aligning with Jefferson's values.
  • Process and evaluate image quality, including density, contrast, definition, and distortion.
  • Maintain patient and equipment positioning during contrast media flow to ensure safety and exam success.
  • Instruct patients on positioning and communicate effectively about the MRI process, answering questions thoroughly.
  • Determine equipment needs based on physician diagnoses and scout films for preliminary review.
  • Maintain MRI equipment through scheduled cleaning, testing, and documenting results; report malfunctions.
  • Follow MRI safety guidelines during procedures.
  • Perform other duties as directed by supervisors, including quality assurance tasks.
  • Additional related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of radiography tools, techniques, and applications, with the ability to operate imaging technology for diagnostic purposes.
  • Ability to prepare patients for imaging, monitor reactions, and respond to emergencies appropriately.
Minimum Education and Experience
  • Graduate of an approved ARRT program.
  • 1 year of experience preferred.
Certifications and Licenses
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Active MRI Certification
  • State license as required
