Job summary

Akron Vascular Care seeks an Interventional Radiologic Technologist to support the clinical team, prepare sterile trays, and assist with surgical cases. You will manage radiographic images and interact with patients and physicians during procedures.

The position requires ARRT certification, two years of radiologic experience, BLS, and strong knowledge of safety precautions and equipment operation. A supportive team and ongoing safety training are offered.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • ARRT certification in diagnostic radiologic technology required; CV/VI preferred.
  • Two years of radiologic technique experience under an accredited radiologist; substitutions may apply.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the clinical team and follow the surgical schedule.
  • Set up sterile surgical trays and assist with surgical cases.
  • Manage and store patient radiographic images; prepare images for reading.
  • Operate the C-Arm and monitor patients during procedures.
  • Prepare equipment and maintain inventory with the Medical Director and Purchasing.
  • Scrub and assist with surgery alongside the Medical Director.
  • Explain procedures to patients to reduce anxiety and obtain cooperation.
  • Position patients for imaging and adjust immobilization for optimum views.
  • Determine exposure factors and adjust controls for proper detail and density.
  • Apply radiation protection techniques to minimize exposure; attend safety meetings.
  • Prepare images for reading and ensure proper naming and upload to the directory.
  • Perform end-of-month supply counts and protect PHI.

Job description

Overview

Interventional Radiologic Technologist – responsible for assisting the clinical team, preparing sterile trays, supporting the Medical Director with surgical cases, and managing patient radiographic images. You will interact with patients, physicians, and dialysis facilities as part of the community educational program.

Responsibilities
  • Provide assistance to the clinical team ensuring the surgical schedule is followed.
  • Set up sterile surgical trays and assist the Medical Director with surgical cases.
  • Manage and store patient radiographic images; prepare images for reading by radiologist or requesting physician; obtain and save images during procedures.
  • Monitor patients during procedures and operate the C-Arm within the scope of practice.
  • Prepare equipment, including cleaning and sterilizing instruments; maintain inventory of medical supplies with the Medical Director and Purchasing.
  • Scrub and assist with surgery alongside the Medical Director during procedures.
  • Explain procedures to patients to reduce anxiety and obtain cooperation.
  • Position patients for diagnostic imaging procedures and adjust immobilization devices to obtain optimum views.
  • Determine exposure factors based on patient height/weight, body region involved, and required penetration; adjust equipment controls to achieve proper detail, density, and accuracy of images.
  • Apply radiation protection techniques to minimize exposure to patients and staff; participate in monthly radiation safety meetings.
  • Prepare images for reading by radiologist or requesting physician and ensure proper naming and upload to the directory.
  • Perform end-of-month supply counts and maintain confidentiality of user names/passwords; ensure PHI is protected.
Experience, Knowledge, and Skills
  • Knowledge of modern radiologic equipment and techniques; regional and gross anatomy; standardized radiologic procedures.
  • Thorough knowledge of radiologic safety precautions and the hazards of radiologic materials.
  • Ability to operate and care for modern radiologic equipment and manage supplies.
Education and Certifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current valid certificate as a certified Radiologic Technologist in diagnostic radiologic technology issued by the Florida State Department of Health Services.
  • Two years of experience in radiologic techniques under an accredited medical radiologist; alternative substitutions may apply as described in the original posting.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification required; Cardiovascular-Interventional (CV) or Vascular-Interventional (VI) certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of sterile technique; Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
