Job summary

Kaiser Permanente in Largo, MD is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to take x-ray exposures and explain procedures to patients. You will review medical history, obtain consent when needed, and ensure images meet radiologist standards.

The role requires standing and lifting up to 50 lbs, with formal radiologic technology training and Maryland licensure. BLS and certification are required, with responsibility for file preparation and report submission.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Greets patient, confirms image to be taken, and explains x-ray procedure.
• Reviews patient’s medical history and ensures consent forms when needed.
• Takes x-ray exposures following body position, radiation dose, and exposure time protocols.
• Processes films and inspects images to meet radiologist requirements.
• Maintains equipment and examination room, stores film and inventory supplies.
• Prepares patient information files showing name, date, physician, and exposure counts.
• Prepares and submits reports showing x-ray types and numbers.
• Performs other related duties as directed.

Job Summary:

Takes x-ray exposures of patients as requested by referring physicians. Explains x-ray procedure to patients, assures safety of patients, reviews films to assure appropriate images, and prepares files and reports.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Greets patient, confirms image to be taken, and explains x-ray procedure to patient.
• Reviews patients medical history prior to performing x-ray procedure and confirms that patient has signed a contrast media consent form if needed.
• Takes x-ray exposures of patient following protocol for position of body, intensity of radiation, and time of exposure.
• Processes film and inspects images to determine that images meet the requirements of radiologist.
• Maintains equipment and examination room, stores film, and keeps inventory of related supplies.
• Prepares patient information files showing patients name, date of x-ray, referring physician, and number of exposures.
• Prepares and submits reports showing the number and type of x-rays.
• Performs other related duties as directed.

Additional Requirements:

• In order to work effectively with patients, must have effective interpersonal and communication skills and be able to stand, walk, bend, lift at least 50 pounds, hear, speak, and see.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Minimum one (1) year of experience as a radiologic technologist preferred to include on-the-job training and internships.
