Job Summary

The Radiology Tech operates imaging equipment and produces radiographs according to standards set by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. The Tech assists radiologists or physicians in interventional procedures. Demonstrates knowledge of human anatomy, patient care, positioning, radiographic sciences, radiation safety, and specialized techniques for interventional procedures. Exercises professional judgment, maintains ethical standards, and provides patient-specific care to ensure high patient satisfaction.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and position patients for x-rays, select exposure factors
  • Observe patient during procedures, report abnormalities, monitor protocols
  • Follow radiation safety procedures
  • Maintain a clean, safe, professional environment
  • Prevent unnecessary radiation exposure
  • Perform patient assessments and communicate with healthcare team
  • Complete documentation related to patient, procedure, and charges
  • Adapt imaging techniques as needed, communicate with physicians
  • Report equipment malfunctions and assist in repairs
  • Assist in staff development, training, and orientation
  • Follow chain of command and communicate reportable situations
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to policies
  • Assist in orientation of new employees
  • Accept counseling and initiate corrective actions positively
  • Familiarize with Fire, Safety, and Disaster Plans
  • Manage supplies efficiently
Requirements
  • Certified Basic BLS Provider from AHA or ASHI
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Associate’s degree preferred
  • Graduate of accredited radiology program or military equivalent
  • Licensed Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) or Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist (CMRT) in Texas; ARRT registration preferred
Physical Demands
  • Lift up to 20 pounds routinely, up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Stand for extended periods
  • Fine motor skills, visual acuity
