Position Summary

To provide high-quality imaging procedures to patients and physicians in a respectful, efficient, and safe environment.

Position Requirements

Formal Education / Training

• Radiologic Technology diploma or degree from an accredited college or university
• Valid Tennessee Medical X-ray Operator License
• Compliance with CE requirements
• Medical Assistant certificate and/or higher degree if hired before March 1, 2019
• Medical Assistant Certificate required within 90 days of employment if hired after March 1, 2019
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire

Workplace Experience

• At least one year of clinic setting experience preferred, but willing to train
• Orthopaedic experience preferred but not required

Equipment and Skills Training

• Knowledge of various x-ray equipment and computer systems
• Training in fluoroscopy, surgery, and routine studies; willing to perform daily
• Patient assessment, vital signs, medical history intake, medication confirmation, suture and splint removal, wound care, EMR use, customer service, teamwork, multitasking in a fast-paced environment

Physical Environment

Radiation safety and universal precautions practiced in a multimodality imaging environment.

Physical Effort

Ability to manipulate equipment, assist with patient movement, sit, stand, bend, lift over 20 pounds, communicate clearly, make judgments in urgent situations, and maintain emotional stability.

Key Responsibilities

• Verify patient identification and physician orders for accuracy
• Question female patients aged 12-50 about pregnancy and document appropriately
• Wear radiation dosimeter badges and follow safety protocols (ALARA, IMAGE GENTLY, IMAGE WISELY)
• Record medical history, medications, vital signs, and document in EMR
• Assist with sutures, splints, wound care, injections, and office procedures
• Ensure patient dignity and comfort during exams and transport
• Coordinate referrals and consultations as needed
• Work collaboratively, assist in other clinics, and participate in departmental activities and meetings
• Follow safety procedures during patient movement and observe universal precautions
• Perform high-quality imaging studies consistently
• Maintain exam rooms and notify materials management when supplies are low
