Position Summary

Provide high-quality imaging procedures to patients and physicians in a safe, respectful, and efficient manner within a clean environment.

Position Requirements
Formal Education / Training
  • Radiologic Technology diploma or degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Must hold Tennessee Medical X-ray Operator License and comply with CE requirements.
  • Medical Assistant certificate or higher degree if hired before March 1, 2019; required within 90 days if hired after.
  • BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
Workplace Experience
  • Preferably at least one year of clinic experience post-graduation; willing to train.
  • Orthopaedic experience preferred but not required.
Equipment and Skills
  • Knowledge of various x-ray equipment and computer systems.
  • Training in fluoroscopy, surgery, and routine studies; willing to perform daily.
  • Competent in patient assessment, vital signs, medical history, medication confirmation, wound care, EMR use, customer service, teamwork, and multitasking in a fast-paced setting.
Physical Environment

Radiation safety and universal precautions are practiced in a multimodality imaging department within a medical office setting.

Physical Effort

Ability to manipulate equipment, assist patient movement, sit, stand, bend, lift over 20 pounds, communicate clearly, make urgent decisions, and maintain emotional stability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Verify patient identity and physician orders for accuracy.
  • Question female patients (ages 12-50) about pregnancy and document appropriately.
  • Wear radiation dosimeter badges and follow safety protocols.
  • Record medical history, medications, vital signs, and document in EMR.
  • Assist with sutures, splints, wound care, injections, and office procedures.
  • Maintain patient dignity and comfort during exams and transport.
  • Coordinate referrals and consultations as needed.
  • Work collaboratively, volunteer for overtime, and participate in departmental activities.
  • Ensure patient safety during movement and adhere to safety and infection control policies.
  • Perform high-quality imaging studies consistently.
  • Keep exam rooms stocked and clean, notifying materials management when supplies are low.
