University Hospital in Newark, NJ seeks a Radiological Technician I to provide x-ray services for inpatients and outpatients. You will perform radiographic procedures, exercise professional judgment, and maintain a professional demeanor per hospital guidelines.

You’ll follow ALARA principles, use RIS/PACS to manage patient data, and participate as part of a collaborative radiology team in a busy academic medical center. A valid NJ license and ARRT certification are required or eligible.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current NJ DEP Diagnostic Radiography license and ARRT certification or be ARRT eligible.
• One year of experience in Diagnostic Radiology preferred.
• Trained to perform bone density scans and maintain BLS/CPR certification.
• Must pass medical evaluation and respirator fit test; wear N95 mask as required.
• Annual respirator fit testing required.

Responsabilités

• Explain exams to patients according to age-specific needs to reduce anxiety.
• Select protocols and techniques for each exam.
• Position and image patients per approved protocols.
• Determine proper exposure factors for radiographic images.
• Verify informed consent when required.
• Access patient records via RIS and PACS; review images on CR/PACS.
• Startup equipment per departmental protocol and ensure readiness.
• Follow ALARA and NJ DEP radiation safety principles.
• Ensure machines function properly before use.
