Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to perform radiographic imaging procedures with minimal supervision. The role requires ARRT certification within 6 months of hire and CPR certification, with additional clearance requirements. A sign-on bonus is offered with a 3-year commitment.

Responsibilities

• Position patient and perform imaging procedures, analyze results and address image quality issues.
• Review patient history and orders; educate patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam.
• When ordered, prepare and administer contrast media and/or medications; monitor patient condition.
• Prepare equipment and supplies; select exposure factors and imaging parameters; ensure safety and QC.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

GENERAL OVERVIEW

This job p erforms prescribed radiographic imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. Competently performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment and initiative.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s). Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results. Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure. Enters, transmits and reports scan results. (40%)
• Reviews patient history and physician's orders. Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation. (20%)
• When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice. Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate. (20%)
• Prepares equipment and supplies. Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters. Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment. Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary. (20%)
• Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum

• Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent education and experience.

Preferred

• Prior radiology experience

• American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (R) Radiography certification required within 6 months of hire. (Incumbents in role prior to April 2026 have 12 months to obtain ARRT certification)
