Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to perform radiographic imaging with independent judgment, under general supervision. The role includes patient positioning, image analysis, and reporting results. Requires ARRT certification within 6 months, CPR, and background clearances.

Responsibilities include reviewing orders, educating patients, administering contrast when ordered, and maintaining equipment safety and QC procedures. Sign-on bonus eligibility for 3 years applies.

Qualifications

• ARRT radiography certification required within 6 months of hire; pending prior incumbents have 12 months.
• CPR certification is required by the American Heart Association.
• Criminal background clearances required (Act 34/33/73 FBI).

Responsibilities

Sign on Bonus Eligible: $15,000 (3 year commitment)

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

This job performs prescribed radiographic imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. Competently performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment and initiative.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s). Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results. Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure. Enters, transmits and reports scan results. (40%)
• Reviews patient history and physician's orders. Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation. (20%)
• When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice. Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate. (20%)
• Prepares equipment and supplies. Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters. Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment. Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary. (20%)
• Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

• Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent education and experience.

Preferred

• Prior radiology experience

Additional Employment Requirements:

• American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (R) Radiography certification required within 6 months of hire. (Incumbents in role prior to April 2026 have 12 months to obtain ARRT certification)
