Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a patient transporter for the Radiology department, working Monday through Friday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with rotating weekends and holidays.

Under supervision, you will safely move patients between nursing floors and Radiology, assist with wheelchairs and stretchers, and maintain patient safety and dignity. The role emphasizes clear communication, adherence to patient ID procedures, and daily equipment readiness.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Responsibilities

• Transfer patients to and from nursing floors to Radiology in a courteous, timely, and safe manner.
• Ensure patients are placed safely in wheelchairs and on stretchers.
• Transport patients according to the Hospital Travel Ticket and clarify with the unit when needed.
• Communicate with patients and/or family members to maintain comfort and safety.
• Record patient transfers in the logbook and notify receiving modality staff.
• Follow patient identification procedures using two identifiers and verify with the name band.
• Notify the nursing station when patients leave and return.
• Ensure wheelchairs, stretchers, and O2 tanks are cleaned daily and report equipment issues.
• Follow emergency procedures (Code 99, Code Red) and department policies.
• Demonstrate courteous interactions and adherence to customer service standards.
