Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a patient transport technician to support the Radiology Department. Under supervision, you will transport patients, ensure safe placement in wheelchairs and stretchers, and follow hospital travel tickets and patient identification procedures.

This role operates Monday through Friday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with rotating weekends and holiday availability. You will maintain equipment, communicate with patients and families, and participate in department safety

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Minimum 1–2 years of related experience.
• No licensure or certification required.

Responsibilities

• Transfers patients to and from nursing floors and Radiology safely.
• Ensures patients are safely placed in wheelchairs and on stretchers.
• Transports patients per the Hospital Travel Ticket and coordinates with units.
• Communicates with patients and families to ensure comfort and safety.
• Logs patient transfers and notifies receiving modality.
• Follows patient identification procedures and hospital policies.
• Maintains and cleans wheelchairs, stretchers, and O2 tanks daily.
• Responds to emergencies per Code 99/Code Red.
• Participates in mandatory education and quality improvement.
