Description:The Interventional Radiologic Technologist performs interventional radiology procedures on ambulatory and hospital patients as requested by a physician or other licensed provider.This is done for the diagnosis of disease and injury in accordance with established protocols.The technologist performs high-quality interventional radiology procedures according to exam protocol in a timely manner.Maintaining the production and quality of imaging procedures is essential by following established standards and procedures.Utilizes effective communication with patients to identify service requirements and ensure correct exams are performed.Instructs and communicates with patients and their families regarding tests to be performed and assesses the patients' ability to tolerate exams.Prepares patients and areas for procedures by positioning patients and adjusting equipment as necessary.Adheres to safety requirements, infection-control, drug, and radiation policies, protocols, and techniques to protect patients and employees.Uses proper sterile techniques when setting up and performing invasive procedures and maintains hand hygiene standards.Maintains equipment and work areas to meet quality and cleanliness standards.Reports issues to management or appropriate departments and assists in maintaining supplies inventory.Ensures individuals are safe to enter the department by screening them according to approved policies and procedures.Obtains, verifies, and maintains all relevant documentation such as requisitions, patient history, and consent forms.Maintains medical imaging records according to departmental policies and standards for interpretation in a timely manner.Demonstrates the ability to explain procedures and put patients at ease.Provides services in a timely, accurate, and cost-efficient manner in compliance with established standards and procedures.Ability to perform tasks independently without routine oversight.Maintains a calm and helpful attitude under times of stress, taking appropriate steps to resolve issues.Effectively administers first aid and uses emergency equipment.Ensures customer satisfaction by limiting wait times and providing courteous service while remaining professional.Demonstrates and maintains current knowledge and skills appropriate for caring for all age groups.Serves as a preceptor by providing quality training to new team members and on new services and initiatives.Able to take call if required.The information contained in this job description is intended to describe the essential job functions required of those assigned to this position.It is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities and duties needed to perform the job.Management retains the right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this position at any time.The ability to competently perform all essential duties of this position, with or without reasonable accommodation, is a basic requirement.Demonstrated commitment to effective customer service delivery and the ability to work productively as a member of a team are also essential.
