Description:The Interventional Rad Technologist performs interventional radiology procedures on patients as requested by a physician or other licensed provider.These procedures are for the diagnosis of disease and injury in accordance with established protocols.The technologist performs high-quality interventional radiology procedures in a timely manner.They maintain production and quality of imaging procedures by following established standards and procedures.Effective communication with patients is essential by utilizing AIDET to identify service requirements and ensure the correct exam is performed.It is important to instruct and communicate with patients and their families regarding the test to be performed.The technologist prepares the patient and area for procedures by positioning the patient and adjusting immobilization devices.Protecting patients and employees is crucial by adhering to safety requirements and protocols.This includes using proper sterile techniques when performing invasive procedures and maintaining hand hygiene requirements.The technologist maintains equipment and work areas to meet quality and cleanliness standards.Collaboration with engineers and physicists is essential to ensure optimal operational capabilities of equipment.They report any equipment issues to management or the appropriate department.Maintaining supplies inventory is also part of the role.The technologist ensures individuals are safe to enter the department by screening them according to approved policies and procedures.Obtaining, verifying, and maintaining all relevant documentation is necessary.This includes requisition/chart details, patient history, and consent forms among others.They maintain medical imaging records in a timely manner according to department policies and standards.The key success factors include maintaining a calm and helpful attitude under stress and ensuring customer satisfaction.The technologist is expected to demonstrate knowledge and skills relevant for various age groups.They may serve as a preceptor to provide training to new team members.Taking call when required is an expected part of the job.The information in this description is intended to summarize the essential job functions required.Management retains the right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities at any time.
