The Cat Scan Technologist is responsible for performing advanced computer tomography procedures and related techniques. This includes producing sectional and three-dimensional images for interpretation and assisting with interventional and therapeutic procedures.
Responsibilities
- Perform complex CT procedures using professional judgment.
- Review and document patient clinical history and ensure it is scanned into PACS.
- Prepare and review contrast questionnaires and communicate with patients and families.
- Administer contrast media as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
- Verify patient prescriptions and communicate discrepancies with Radiologists and Referring Physicians.
- Ensure insurance authorization for exams and manage associated documentation.
- Obtain and schedule outside studies in PACS for Radiologist comparison.
- Provide exam copies to patients and relevant medical personnel.
- Evaluate radiographs for diagnostic value and proper identification.
- Prepare patients for scanning, including using shielding and immobilization techniques.
- Maintain proper documentation in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
Schedule
This position requires a schedule of Sunday through Thursday from 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM, including holidays and no on‑call duties. This is a 13‑week contract position.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Minimum of 2 years of CT experience required; 5 years preferred.
- Experience with GE Equipment, Epic EMR, and Fuji PACS is necessary.
- ARRT (R) and NJ DEP Diagnostic Radiography License are required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association is required within three months of hire.
