White Plains Hospital Medical Center is seeking a Radiology Clerical professional to manage communication, registration and scheduling for radiology procedures. You will handle patient information, scheduling and back-up clerical duties in the radiology department.

Daily work includes answering phones, logging requests, coordinating with floors and radiology staff, and ensuring timely patient flow. This role requires high school diploma and strong computer skills.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1-3 years preferred.
  • Strong computer proficiency (high proficiency).
  • Strong ability to communicate with physicians and hospital staff.
  • Ability to locate and print microfilm records and retrieve paper reports/documents.

Responsibilities

  • Under supervision, handles communication, registration and scheduling for radiology procedures.
  • Performs clerical duties including registering patients, data entry, filing, typing and transport coordination.
  • Answers phones and logs patient information and requests in the RIS/PACS system.
  • Notifies appropriate staff of schedule changes and supports as back-up in the radiology department.

Job Summary

Under the direction of the radiology administrator or designee, is responsible for communication, registration and scheduling for various radiology procedures. To perform all phases of clerical duties to include receiving and logging of patients information, scheduling, filing typing, transport, answering phones, and assisting as back-up as needed in the radiology department.

Essential Functions
  1. 1. Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors
  2. 2. Abides by scheduling policy
  3. 3. Notifies floors or radiology staff if any planned schedule change
  4. 4. Will be required to work in case of emergencies or when situations arise in the department. Holiday, overtime and/or day, evening shift coverage to help maintain adequate and safe coverage for the department
  5. 5. Maintains the cleanliness of all work areas, equipment and accessories. Reports all malfunctioning equipment to Bio Med or supervisor.
  6. 6. Prints CD's if needed
  7. 7. Performs routine office duties, such as answering phones, documents information on patients' request, Meditec or hospital Ris system's and PAC's digital x-ray system
  8. 8. Notifies transport when patients are ready to be picked up or returned to floors
  9. 9. May be assigned as an instructor or preceptor
  10. 10. Should be knowledgeable and skillful in providing care, based on age, physical and psychosocial stature of patient populations; neonate/newborn, pediatric/adolescent, adults and geriatric groups
  11. 11. Performs other related duties as required, attends staff meetings and in-services
  12. 12. Duties and hours may change according to the needs of the department or hospital
  13. 13. Prioritizes and organizes own work load and routine administrative matters to assure completion of tasks within the time frame designated
  14. 14. Coordinates follow up of all customer service and satisfaction matters as directed
  15. 15. Informs supervisor if office or clinical supplies are needed
Qualifications
  • High School Required or GED Required
  • 1-3 years Preferred
  • Constantly utilizes/operates computer to access information (High proficiency)
  • Constantly scans documents from computer and other scanning locations (High proficiency)
  • Ability to communicate to physicians and other hospital employees regarding requests for information and assist physicians with basic chart completion procedures (High proficiency)
  • Ability to view and print microfilm records (High proficiency)
  • Retrieves paper reports/documents from nursing departments/units 10% of the time (High proficiency)
