Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Radiology Support Associate to assist Radiology Technologists with patient flow and exam preparation. You will greet patients, prepare rooms, and coordinate films and reports, while maintaining safety and compliance.

The role emphasizes clear English communication and adherence to ALARA guidelines. Requirements include CPR certification and strong organizational skills; preferred are a High School Diploma and experience in a medical setting.

Qualifications

• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, patient positioning, equipment protocols, radiation safety and basic patient care.
• Ability to communicate clearly in English with patients to explain procedures.
• Ability to follow directions, procedures, policies and regulations.
• Ability to work effectively with medical staff, personnel, students and patients.

Responsibilities

• Duties include communicating with patients and preparing them for the exam, patient film and report coordination, and stocking supplies.
• Follows all Quality Control policies and procedures for compliance with regulations.
• Uses radiation safety measures to comply with government regulations and ensure safety of patients and staff.
• Greets patients politely and efficiently.
• Delivers patients to examination rooms.
• Takes thorough and accurate patient histories as directed.
• Explains procedures to patients in English; seek interpreter services if needed.
• Sets up examination rooms with necessary equipment and supplies.
• Ensures patient comfort and relaxation.
• May monitor patients' conditions and report abnormal signs to physician.
• Assist with documentation and treatment records and delivering documents to PACS.
• Assist other medical staff in procedures or administrative duties.
• Adhere to ALARA and safety guidelines.
