Job summary

Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking an experienced engineer to design and implement software for precision examination systems that inspect irradiated Navy fuel. The role blends hands-on lab work with office design tasks to deliver robust control software and data processing solutions.

You will collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers, test sponsors, and NR FMP personnel to upgrade systems and deploy new facilities, while ensuring safety and reliability of naval reactors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in a technical/engineering/science field with relevant experience, or equivalent advanced degree with years of experience.
• Experience with software-centric control systems and data processing is preferred.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and deploy custom software for control systems used in mechatronic examination platforms.
• Perform hands-on lab work and craft design documentation and software code.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and operations teams to meet project objectives.
• Support lifecycle management and system upgrades for new and existing facilities.
