Job summary

Naval Nuclear Laboratory in Knolls Nuclear Engineering seeks an early career Engineer of Radiological Work to join our team. You will develop technical work documents with radiological controls for work on, testing of, or handling radioactive materials.

The candidate will be trained as an Engineer of Radiological Work with duties focused on supporting radiological facilities research, testing and infrastructure maintenance including equipment like ventilation and piping.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related technical/engineering or science field with 2+ years of relevant experience, or Master's degree with 1+ year of relevant experience.
• Alternatively, currently an Intermediate Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at Naval Nuclear Laboratory.
• Experience in writing technical reports is preferred.
• Radiation protection background is preferred.
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop technical work documents that incorporate radiological, environmental, safety and industrial hygiene controls for performing work on, testing of, or handling radioactive and/or nuclear material.
• Support radiological facilities in research and testing as well as infrastructure maintenance including radiological support equipment (ventilation, machinery, piping and characterization).

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience; or Currently an Intermediate Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company.

Pay Range

$78,700.00 - $120,500.00 annually
Salary information provided is a general guideline only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation.
