  • Ability to satisfy applicable site access, safety training, security, background, and export-control requirements; U.S. person status required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform source term and radionuclide transport calculations supporting design and safety evaluations.
  • Conduct shielding and dose rate calculations for plant areas, equipment, and shipping configurations.
  • Support effluent and airborne release evaluations against regulatory dose limits.
  • Prepare calculation packages and analysis records that satisfy quality assurance and independent review requirements
  • Support model validation by comparing analytical results against measured or benchmark data
  • Escalate anomalous results or apparent limit exceedances to the responsible engineer rather than resolving them informally

About the Role

First American Nuclear Co. is seeking a Radiological Engineer to support our health physics and radiological analysis function. This is an individual contributor engineering position accountable for the technical accuracy and defensibility of source term, shielding, and dose analyses performed under the direction of senior staff. Success in this role means accurate, well-documented analyses delivered on schedule and defensible under independent review. You'll perform core radiological calculations, prepare calculation packages that satisfy quality assurance and independent review requirements, and elevate anomalous results to the responsible engineer rather than resolving them informally.

Responsibilities
  • Perform source term and radionuclide transport calculations supporting design and safety evaluations
  • Conduct shielding and dose rate calculations for plant areas, equipment, and shipping configurations

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Health Physics, Nuclear Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and directly relevant experience
Required Skills

Preferred Skills
  • Radionuclide transport or shielding modeling experience with codes such as MCNP, MicroShield, or equivalent
  • Certified Health Physicist (CHP) candidacy or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) / Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification
Pay range and compensation package

$144,447 - $194,090

Subject to background investigation and psychological assessment requirements under 10 CFR 73.56 for roles requiring unescorted site access. Subject to the FANCO fitness-for-duty program under 10 CFR Part 26, including testing and behavioral observation. All work performed under the FANCO quality assurance program per 10 CFR Part 50, Appendix B, and NQA-1. Occasional travel required (up to approximately 10%) for site visits, training, and technical meetings. Work is performed in office, laboratory, manufacturing, and field or reactor-site environments; reasonable accommodations are provided to qualified employees with disabilities under the ADA.
