Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Nuclear Engineer to join the Nuclear Power Group. The role is based in Peachtree Corners, GA on a hybrid schedule requiring in-office work 3 days per week, with opportunities to work on domestic and international projects.

You will perform radiological dose calculations, shielding design, and source term analyses for upgrades to existing nuclear plants, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. Travel to support projects is possible.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Nuclear Engineering degree required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
• Strong problem solving skills are desired.
• Experience with MCNP, RADTRAD, MicroShield, ORIGEN or ARCON96 is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Apply automation/AI to improve workflows and deliver cost-effective designs.
• Build calculations, summarize technical documents, and draft design documentation with verification.
• Utilize scripting (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate checks and reporting (valued).
• Pursue ongoing learning in CS/AI related fields to apply automation to engineering problems.

WORK LOCATION: This position is based on a hybrid work schedule and will require in-office work 3 days per week at the Sargent & Lundy office in Peachtree Corners, GA.

We offer you a variety of interesting and challenging opportunities in nuclear/radiological engineering.

You will work with multi-discipline engineering project teams engaged in the design and engineering of upgrades and modifications to existing nuclear power plants in the following areas:

• Radiological dose calculations
• Shielding design calculations
• Radiation source term calculations

In addition, you will:

• Work on both domestic and international nuclear power plant projects
• Potential travel to support projects

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Nuclear Engineering from an ABET accredited program
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary
• Strong problem solving skills are desired
• Experience with some of the following computer programs (preferred):

Compensation Range

$62,998 - $90,586
