Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is looking for skilled Radiological Control Technicians (RCTs) to join the Radiation Protection (RP) Division. RCTs support a wide variety of work activities across a broad range of facilities and can learn new skills and expand their expertise in the identification and understanding of radiological hazards and controls. LANL RCTs implement radiation protection requirements and work independently on challenging projects requiring collaboration with multiple work groups. Assignments can involve activities in varying work environments and weather conditions. As an RCT 4, you will provide direct support to field implementation of the Radiation Protection Program through the execution of radiological job coverage, workplace surveys, and documentation of radiological data. You will assist and mentor less experienced RCTs in the execution of radiation monitoring, contamination control, emergency response, and the implementation of radiation work permits and other work documents.
As an RCT 5, in addition to the responsibilities of the RCT 4 level, you may serve as the primary Radiation Protection point of contact for assisting in job planning, coordinating resources, and resolving issues for radiological work activities. You will also provide technical leadership of less experienced RCTs and ensure compliance with radiological procedures.

Position may require 24/7 coverage, which could involve rotating shift, weekend schedule, and shift differential pay at the discretion of management.
Ability to lift 50 pounds and carry 35 pounds; reading vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; ability to speak and hear in a normal range (500–3000 Hz); ability to sit, crawl, stand, walk, run, and climb, in addition to reaching overhead, horizontally, and down; avoid chronic wounds or rashes that would prevent safe entry into controlled areas; use stairways, fixed ladders, and ladders up to six feet. Must be physically able to work in demanding environments.
