Job summary

Mount Sinai Morningside is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to perform routine radiographic examinations on patients referred by physicians in accordance with Radiology protocols.

The role requires an AA or equivalent Radiologic Technology program graduate and at least one year of experience. You will assist with patient positioning, provide education about imaging procedures, and ensure proper labeling and timely transmission of images to the PACS system.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree (AA) or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school; graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • Minimum one year of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine radiological procedures.
  • Applies technical judgment to obtain studies of acceptable diagnostic quality according to written protocols and patients' needs.
  • Assists, prepares, and positions patients as required.
  • Provides patient education relevant to imaging procedures by informing the patient of the nature of the procedure, the area to be imaged, and any specific instructions needed.
  • Ensures all radiographic images are appropriately labeled as specified by the department SOP.
  • Demonstrates radiographically visible evidence of shielding where appropriate, especially in pediatrics.
  • Employs radiation protection measures, including collimation on all images, and follows departmental protocols to keep exposure to patients and staff a minimum.
  • Assists physicians directly as required.
  • Evaluates radiographs for technical acceptability and ensures images are transmitted to PACS in a timely fashion.
  • Maintains radiology room and equipment cleanliness at the start and end of the shift, including removal of soiled or dirty linen.
  • Maintains supplies and accessories in imaging room needed to perform duties safely.
  • Accurately records all required patient tracking information into IDX (Radiology Information System).
  • Schedules exams into IDX as required.
  • Ensures all studies performed are completed in IDX in a timely fashion.
  • Calls for in‑patients as required.
  • Performs related clerical duties in the absence of support personnel.
  • Notifies supervisor or appropriate personnel of needed equipment repairs or unsafe conditions.
  • Supervises radiology students assigned to clinical area.
  • Prevents spread of infection to self, patients, visitors, and employees by adhering to infection control policies and protocols.
  • Attends in‑services and other professional development meetings as required.
  • Maintains in good standing, licensure specific to job, including adherence to Article 35 of the Public Health Code.
