Job summary

The Hughston Clinic seeks a radiologic technologist to assist physicians and staff in producing high-quality radiographs. A $2,500 sign-on bonus is offered. You will master radiographic technique, operate imaging systems, and assist with requisitions and patient positioning.

Responsibilities include equipment care, stock management, safety procedures, and supervising student technologists. Prior orthopedic experience is preferred; BLS certification required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited two-year radiologic technology program.
• Completion of coursework required for appropriate state licensure and certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; knowledge of radiographic technique and medical imaging systems; musculoskeletal anatomy; HIPAA requirements; valid driver's license (MVR may be required).

Responsibilities

• Must have a command of radiographic technique.
• Must have command of medical imaging system and assist other staff as needed.
• Responsible for understanding and carrying out radiology requisitions and views.
• Memorize what views each physician requires on exams.
• Assist patients in getting into the positions required to get the radiographs, with occasional lifting.
• Take X-rays following established procedures for patient care and safety.
• Stock necessary supplies.
• Use radiation protection and shielding materials.
• Provide training and supervision to student technologists.
• Ensure equipment is in working order; report malfunctions.
• Carry out radiology requisitions and views; use radiographic technique and assist other staff.
• Operate portables and C-Arm equipment (if applicable).
• Provide back-up support to Medical Assistants (rooming patients, transcribing, EMR documentation, etc.).
• Import and upload outside CDs for clinic.

Position Goal

Assist physicians and other staff members with care of patients in producing high quality radiographs.

• $2,500 SIGN-ON BONUS

Position Responsibilities

• Must have a command of radiographic technique.
• Must have command of medical imaging system and be able to assist other staff members as needed.
• Responsible for understanding and carrying out radiology requisitions and views.
• Memorize what views each physician requires on exams.
• Assist patients in getting into the positions required to get the radiographs needed with the occasional need to lift the patient.
• Take X-rays following established procedures for patient care and safety.
• Stock necessary supplies.
• Use a variety of radiation protection and shielding materials.
• Assist with and provides direct training and supervision to student technologists.
• Ensure equipment is in working order. Report any malfunction to supervisor in a timely manner.
• Carry out radiology requisitions and views. Use radiographic technique, medical imaging system, and assist other staff members as needed.
• Operate all portables and C-Arm equipment (if applicable).
• Provide back up support to Medical Assistants, which includes rooming patients, transcribing, entering tests and procedures, EMR documentation, reviewing initial vital signs, assisting with minor procedures (e.g. suture/staple removal), assisting with DME placement/removal, and ensuring all equipment and exam rooms are sterilized and clean/stocked (if applicable).
• Import and upload outside CDs for clinic.

Experience

Required:

• None.

Preferred:

• Previous orthopaedic experience.

Education

Required:

• Graduate of an accredited two-year radiologic technology program or equivalent military training.
• Completion of coursework required for appropriate state licensure and certification(s) (if applicable).

Required

Special Qualifications:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
• Knowledge of radiographic technique and medical imaging system(s).
• Vast knowledge of musculoskeletal anatomy.
• Ability to work independently and have working knowledge of HIPAA requirements.
• Valid Driver’s License and satisfactory motor vehicle record (MVR) may be required (MVR will be screened on an annual basis).
