This job involves assessing patients and safely performing routine radiographic procedures according to safety protocols. The role also includes serving as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students.

Education

Required: Completion of an approved radiologic technology program.

Work Experience

Required: None. Preferred: Radiologic technology experience.

Certifications

Required: ARRT registration or eligibility, with registration within 90 days of employment, and a temporary state license. Current unrestricted license in the state of practice. Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Proficiency with computers, software, and web-based applications.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends, holidays, and on-call, and to travel between facilities.

Job Duties

• Verify physician orders and procedures for accuracy.
• Use radiology information systems to facilitate care.
• Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding.
• Operate equipment independently to complete imaging procedures according to protocol, including placement of nasogastric tubes, IVs, urinary catheters, and contrast administration.
• Review images for quality before transmission.
• Perform quality control procedures and address issues as needed.
• Assist with departmental operations such as inventory and equipment maintenance.
• Adapt behavior to specific patient populations, respecting privacy and communicating effectively.
• Perform other duties as required.
