The Radiology Technologist is responsible for keeping patients and medical staff safe by appropriately preparing an exam room and outfitting all parties with the necessary protective equipment. Radiology Technicians educate patients about the purpose of the scan and answer questions. They carefully observe the monitor for abnormalities during a scan and produce a detailed report for the attending Doctor to interpret.


Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Greets and escorts patients to the exam room.
  2. Use beam-restrictive devices and patient-shielding techniques to minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff.
  3. Position x-ray equipment and adjust controls to set exposure factors, such as time and distance.
  4. Position the patient on the examining table set up and adjust the equipment to obtain an optimum view of the specific body area, as requested by the Provider.
  5. Interview patients and record chief complaints, past and present patient history, social history, family history, medication history, measures, and record vital signs (a minimum of three vital signs). Follows evaluation and management guidelines.
  6. Prepares patient and assists physician(s) with examination, treatments, and procedures.
  7. Prepares and administers medications and injections after verifying the correct dosage. (Use the six rights of medication).
  8. Observes, records, and reports patient's condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to Providers.
  9. Prepares examination rooms; sterilizes instruments for tests per established procedures.
  10. Notify and record patients of test results, as directed by Provider.
  11. Instructs patient regarding medication and treatment instructions and through discharge them.
  12. Posts tests and examination results to charts.
  13. Determine patients’ x-ray needs by reading requests or instructions from Providers.
  14. Make exposures necessary for the requested procedures, rejecting and repeating work that does not meet established standards.
  15. Process exposed radiographs using film processors or computer-generated methods.
  16. Explain procedures to patients to reduce anxieties and obtain cooperation.
  17. Prepare and set up x-ray room for patient; sterilize instruments for test according to established procedures; thoroughly cleans equipment and exam room.
  18. Responsible for maintaining OSHA regulations in x-ray room(s).
  19. Assist in maintaining all equipment per appropriate regulations.
  20. Maintains patient confidentiality 100% of the time; demonstrates complete discretion when discussing patient information.
  21. Perform other duties as assigned.

Pay Range: $27.00 + depending on experience.


Position Type: Full-time or Part-time options may be available, but a commitment to a set schedule is required.

Requirements

  • ARRT and LSRT license (Required)
  • Current BLS certification
  • Effective interpersonal and communications skills.
