Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to perform diagnostic radiographic procedures, including portable X-rays, C-arm, and fluoroscopy, while adhering to radiation safety standards and ensuring high-quality imaging.

You will review patient history, position patients, educate patients, and assist radiologists with fluoroscopic and special procedures. The role involves PACS/EMR documentation and teaching radiography students, with shifts of four 8-hour days.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Radiologic Technology.
  • 1–3 years experience preferred; new graduates considered.
  • ARRT Radiography registration required.
  • CPR/BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Illinois/IEMA or Wisconsin licensure may be required depending on location.

Responsibilities

  • Performs diagnostic radiographic, portable, c-arm and fluoroscopic procedures.
  • Reviews clinical history and ensures appropriate orders; communicates with radiologists.
  • Provides patient education and positions patients for optimal imaging.
  • Operates imaging equipment and image capture devices; ensures image quality.
  • Maintains PACS and EMR documentation; submits images for review.
  • Follows ALARA principles and radiation safety standards.
  • Initiates basic life support when necessary; assists in OR/ER as needed.
  • Documents XR/FL procedures in EMR and supports students and staff.

Overview

Performs diagnostic radiographic procedures, including portable X-rays, C-arm, and fluoroscopy, while ensuring high-quality imaging and following radiation safety standards. Reviews patient history, positions and educates patients, operates imaging equipment, and assists radiologists with fluoroscopic and special procedures. Maintains accurate documentation in PACS and the electronic medical record while supporting patient safety and providing instruction to radiography students. Schedule: Four, 8- hour shifts Shift: Days

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs diagnostic radiographic, portable, c-arm and fluoroscopic procedures.
  • Reviews patients' clinical history ensuring that appropriate order placed and labs are within range as needed- reviewing with radiologist as necessary
  • Provides patient education.
  • Selects and operates imaging equipment, image capture devices and accessories to successfully perform procedures.
  • Positions patient to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort.
  • Initiates basic life support when necessary.
  • Determines radiographic technique and exposure factors.
  • Follows ALARA principles through accurate exposure factors and radiographic techniques.
  • Applies principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others.
  • Reports and documents XR safety incidents/ adverse events per protocol.
  • Processes images and reviews for proper identification and quality control.
  • Uses radiology information systems (including PACS), completes all required records and reports, submits images and data for physician review and interpretation.
  • Assist with medical record/image sharing as necessary.
  • Documents all information pertinent to XR/FL procedure in electronic medical record to include medication reconciliation.
  • Provides practical instruction for radiography students and partners.
  • Applies principles of patient safety during procedures, including assisting and transporting patients.
  • Operates mobile radiologic equipment in operating room, emergency room, or at patient's bedside.
  • Assists radiologist in fluoroscopic and special x-ray examinations.
  • Prepares contrast media and assists in administration.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Radiologic Technology
  • One (1) to Three (3) years experience preferred
  • Will consider new graduates
CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE
  • ARRT Radiography registration required
  • IEMA-DNS radiography accreditation required if working in Illinois
  • WI-DSPS radiographer license required if working in Wisconsin
  • Approved CPR or BLS certification within 90 days

LEVEL OF SUPERVISION

Works independently with limited direct supervision. SUPERVISES Provides clinical supervision of allied health students and radiology aides.

PAY RANGE

$27.17 - $40.75
