Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist to perform high-quality X-ray examinations, follow physician orders, and ensure patient safety across a network of hospitals and clinics.

You will work days (Sat-Mon, 7:00 AM–7:30 PM) with a sign-on bonus of $10,000 and relocation assistance up to $5,000. ARRT registration and SC licensure are required; BLS is also required.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technology.
• Experience: 0 to 2 years of modality-specific work experience.
• Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), or obtain registry within 6 months of hire.
• Licensure: South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association licensure required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required (AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers or Red Cross CPR/AED for Healthcare Providers).

Responsibilities

• Performs high-quality diagnostic radiographic examinations according to physician orders and established protocols.
• Ensures diagnostic images are obtained accurately and efficiently for physician interpretation.
• Prepares and administers contrast agents as directed and under physician supervision.
• Verifies patient identification, examination orders, and relevant clinical information prior to procedures.
• Positions patients appropriately and operates radiographic equipment safely and effectively.
• Maintains patient safety, comfort, and privacy throughout examinations.
• Reviews images for quality and completeness and obtains additional images when necessary.
• Follows radiation safety practices and applicable department and regulatory standards.
• Documents examinations and patient information accurately in the appropriate electronic systems.
• Maintains equipment and work areas in accordance with department standards and infection prevention protocols.

About the Role

As a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist at MUSC, you have access to state-of-the-art imaging equipment to capture detailed X-ray images, assisting in the diagnosis and treatment planning for a wide range of medical conditions across 16 community hospitals including 3 level 1 trauma centers and many unique outpatient clinics across South Carolina. Call requirements: 3 on-call days every 13 weeks. Holiday expectations: Rotating Schedule.
