BronxCare Health System in New York City is seeking an X-ray Technologist to perform high-quality radiographs for inpatients, ED and outpatients while adhering to ALARA principles.

The ideal candidate will hold a New York State License as an X-ray Technologist, ARRT registration, and have graduated from an accredited Radiologic Technology program. One year of experience is preferred, with a focus on patient comfort and infection control.

Qualifications

  • One year or more experience as an X-ray Technologist preferred.
  • New York State License as an X-ray Technologist is required.
  • ARRT registration is required.

  • Assists the radiologist during fluoroscopy studies.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work area following infection control standards.
  • Keeps current on developments in diagnostic imaging through journals and programs.

Overview

Performs and obtains high quality radiographs on all patients (i.e. In-Patients, ED and Out Patients); recognizesthe need for and utilizes safe techniques such as shielding, collimation and applying principles of ALARA [as lowas reasonable achievable] to minimize radiation exposure to the patient, self and others. Transports patients toand from X-ray rooms as required. Provides patient comfort (e.g., bedpans, blankets) as required. Maintains aclean and safe work area following Infection control standards to include X-ray room, X-ray equipment andaccessories. Informs appropriate personnel when equipment is in need of repair.

Responsibilities

Establish and maintain positive relationships with patients, visitors and otheremployees. Interacts professionally, courteously, and appropriately withpatients, visitors and other employees. Behave in a manner consistent withmaintaining a positive public perception of BronxCare Health System and itsemployees.

Contributes to and participates in the Performance/Quality Improvementactivities of the assigned department. Participation in continuous QualityImprovement, adhering to the specific rules and regulations of BronxCareHealth System a) Safety and Security Policies, (b) Risk Management Incidentand Occurrence reporting, (c) Infection Control Standards and (d) Patient andCustomer service.

Utilizes all X-ray equipment permitted within the scope of their license andrealm of their training.

Performs and obtains high quality radiographs on all patient (i.e. In-Patients,Emergency Room patient or Private Out Patients); recognizes the need forand utilizes lead shielding where appropriate in accordance with departmentalpolicies.

Schedules and coordinates the time of transport to and from a DiagnosticX-ray for inpatients and ED patients. Ensures inpatient schedules along withpreps are posted on the hospital intranet daily. Functions independently withregard to individualizing each exam relative to clinical history, reviewing orders,lab results and prior imaging utilizing the hospital computer system andradiology information system in accordance to hospital policy.

Assist the radiologist during the performance of fluoroscopy studies.

Transports patients to and from X-ray rooms as required. Provides patientcomfort (e.g., bedpans, blankets) as required.

Assessment, treatment and patient care responsibilities are delivered with aknowledge of patient growth and development and are appropriate to the agesof the patients served.

Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives,quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection controlstandards. Communicates supply shortage /inventory needs to supervisor.

Maintains a clean and safe work area following Infection control standards.

Keeps current regarding developments in trends and techniques of diagnosticimaging by reading technical journals, participating in in-service educationprograms, attending conferences, etc.

Attendance and punctuality (Start of work and return to work from breaksand lunch) is maintained in accordance with hospital policy.

Qualifications

One (1) year experience as an X-ray Technologist preferred.

New York State License as an X-ray Technologist required.

American Registry Radiologic Technologist (ARRT Registered) required

Graduate from anaccredited school of Radiologic Technology required
