Job summary

BronxCare Health System is seeking a Cardiac Cath Tech/X-ray Technologist to support interventional radiology and catheterization suite procedures. The role involves imaging, patient positioning, and collaboration with cardiology specialists to ensure high-quality, safe fluoroscopic imaging.

Candidates should have NY State X-ray licensure, ARRT registration, and an accredited radiology education. Prior interventional experience is preferred, with adherence to infection control and safety

Qualifications

• Two (2) years’ experience as a Cardiac Cath Tech or X-ray Technologist with minimally one (1) year experience working in an Interventional Radiology or Cardiac Catheterization Suite.
• New York State License as an X-ray Technologist, certification to inject per the requirements of section 89.40 of part 89
• American Registry Radiologic Technologist (ARRT Registered)
• Graduate from an accredited school of Radiology.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain positive relationships with patients, visitors and other employees.
• Interacts professionally, courteously, and appropriately with patients, visitors and other employees.
• Participate in Performance/Quality Improvement activities of the assigned department.
• Assist the cardiologist in positioning patients for Percutaneous coronary intervention, Electrophysiology and pacemaker procedures.
• Performs high quality, high resolution imaging with adequate shielding and collimation for fluoroscopic guidance on all patients.
• Document imaging data in GE MAC Lab and McKesson system.
• Maintain safety, infection control standards and staff training as per BronxCare Health System policies.

Overview

Cardiovascular technologists are exposed to a minor level of radiation in the course of someprocedures, but the levels are closely monitored and protected against. During surgical procedures, theyspend a great deal of time standing and may be required to help lift and transfer patients, thetechnologist will also prepare and position patient for the cardiac catheterization for angioplasty,anesthetizing the area of insertion. as requested by the physician. Performs and obtains high quality,high resolution imaging chain with adequate shielding and collimation essential for fluoroscopicguidance on all patients.

Responsibilities

Contributes to and participates in the Performance/Quality Improvementactivities of the assigned department. Participation in continuous QualityImprovement, adhering to the specific rules and regulations of BronxCareHealth System (a) Safety and Security Policies, (b) Risk Management Incidentand Occurrence reporting, (c) Infection Control Standards and (d) Patient andCustomer service.

Responsible for obtaining imaging data in a manner prescribed by theCardiologist.

Assessment, treatment and patient care responsibilities are delivered with aknowledge of patient growth and development and are appropriate to the agesof the patients served.

Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives,quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection controlstandards. Communicates supply shortage /inventory needs to supervisor.

Maintains a clean and safe work area following Infection control standards.

Effectively utilizes the hospital computer system as it pertains to jobresponsibilities and in accordance to hospital policy.

Attendance and punctuality (Start of work and return to work from breaksand lunch) is maintained in accordance with hospital policy.

Qualifications
