Job summary

Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary in Boston is seeking a Radiologic Technologist for day shifts on site at 243-245 Charles Street. You will perform X-ray, CT, and MRI imaging, prepare patients, and ensure comfort and safety throughout procedures.

Requirements include a state radiologic technologist license, ARRT certification within 180 days, and 0–1 year radiology experience preferred. Mass General Brigham offers a generous sign-on bonus and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or certificate in Radiography is required; an Associate's Degree is preferred.
  • Radiologic Technologist license (State) required.
  • ARRT certification required within 180 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic imaging procedures (X-ray, CT, MRI) as ordered by physicians.
  • Prepare and position patients; ensure comfort and safety.
  • Explain procedures and address patient questions to reduce anxiety.
  • Operate and adjust imaging equipment; ensure image quality and correct exposure.
  • Follow established protocols and radiation safety guidelines (ALARA).
  • Maintain accurate patient records and use EMR systems for data entry.

Job Summary

$20,000 sign on bonus

Day Shift hours, 7:30am-8:00pm (Monday & Wednesday)

Essential Functions
  • Perform various diagnostic imaging procedures, including X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, and other radiographic examinations, as ordered by physicians or other healthcare providers.
  • Prepare and position patients for imaging procedures, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the process.
  • Explain the procedure, answer questions, and address concerns to help alleviate patient anxiety.
  • Operate and adjust imaging equipment, including X-ray machines, CT scanners, MRI scanners, and related accessories.
  • Follow established protocols and ensure proper positioning and settings for optimal image quality.
  • Capture high-quality images and review them to ensure technical quality, proper positioning, and adequate exposure.
  • Recognize and troubleshoot technical issues to produce accurate and diagnostic images.
  • Follow radiation safety protocols and guidelines to minimize patient and staff exposure to ionizing radiation.
  • Use lead aprons, shields, and other protective devices as appropriate.
  • Monitor radiation dosage and equipment performance to maintain safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of patient information, procedures performed, and related documentation.
  • Use electronic medical record (EMR) systems and other computerized tools for data entry and retrieval.

Other Certificate/Diploma Radiography required and Associate's Degree Radiography preferred

Radiologic Technologist [State License] - required

Registered Technologist [R.T.(ARRT)] - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required within 180 days

Experience

Experience in radiology technology 0-1 year preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Must effectively use interpersonal skills to deal with patients and fellow employees who may be under physical and/or emotional stress. Maintains composure at all times.
  • Excellent attention to detail, written, and communication skills; must be able to read and write in English.
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, principles of radiation physics, ALARA, radiographic equipment and positioning.
  • Must be physically capable of lifting a minimum of 40 lbs (i.e., linen, supplies, patients).
  • Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to emergency and infection control situations.
  • Displays a positive attitude and professional appearance; exemplifies flexibility and willingness to adapt to the operational needs of the department and MGB.
  • Board eligible through the American Board of Radiology.
