Job summary

Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to perform diagnostic imaging procedures. The role involves operating X-ray, CT, and MRI equipment, positioning patients, and ensuring image quality for radiologist interpretation.

The position offers a $20,000 sign-on bonus, day shift hours (7:30am-8:00pm) with on-site work at 243-245 Charles Street, Boston. Eligible for full benefits starting day one and a comprehensive retirement plan.

Qualifications

  • Radiography certificate/diploma required; associate's degree preferred.
  • Licensure as Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) required within 180 days of hire.
  • Experience not required or 0–1 year preferred for entry-level.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic imaging procedures (X-ray, CT, MRI as applicable) per physician orders.
  • Position patients, obtain high-quality images, and ensure safety and comfort.
  • Operate radiographic equipment and review images for quality and exposure.
  • Maintain records and use EMR for documentation and data entry.

You will operate radiographic equipment, position patients, and capture high-quality images for interpretation by radiologists or other healthcare providers.Does this position require Patient Care? YesEssential Functions-Perform various diagnostic imaging procedures, including X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, and other radiographic examinations, as ordered by physicians or other healthcare providers.-Prepare and position patients for imaging procedures, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the process.-Explain the procedure, answer questions, and address concerns to help alleviate patient anxiety.-Operate and adjust imaging equipment, including X-ray machines, CT scanners, MRI scanners, and related accessories.-Follow established protocols and ensure proper positioning and settings for optimal image quality.-Capture high-quality images and review them to ensure technical quality, proper positioning, and adequate exposure.-Recognize and troubleshoot technical issues to produce accurate and diagnostic images.-Follow radiation safety protocols and guidelines to minimize patient and staff exposure to ionizing radiation.-Use lead aprons, shields, and other protective devices as appropriate.-Monitor radiation dosage and equipment performance to maintain safety standards.-Maintain accurate and complete records of patient information, procedures performed, and related documentation.-Use electronic medical record (EMR) systems and other computerized tools for data entry and retrieval.QualificationsEducationOther Certificate/Diploma Radiography required and Associate's Degree Radiography preferredCan this role accept experience in lieu of a degree?NoLicenses and CredentialsRadiologic Technologist [State License] - requiredRegistered Technologist [R.T.(ARRT)] - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required within 180 daysExperienceExperience in radiology technology 0-1 year preferredKnowledge, Skills and Abilities- Must effectively use interpersonal skills to deal with patients and fellow employees who may be under physical and/or emotional stress.
