Job description

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs interventional procedures in the cath lab, ensuring compliance with radiation safety procedures. Responsibilities include preparing patients for exams, explaining procedures, administering contrast when necessary, positioning patients, selecting appropriate imaging techniques, and ensuring image quality.
  • Provides surgical scrub duties and operates X-ray equipment.
  • Prepares and ensures availability of all necessary supplies and X-ray equipment for each case.
  • Ensures timely Vascular Lab turnover, observing cost-effectiveness and conservation when opening supplies.
  • Restocks supplies as workload permits and assists in pulling supplies for upcoming cases.
  • Sets up and maintains X-ray equipment for both major and minor interventional procedures, applying radiology knowledge.
  • Communicates effectively with medical staff to coordinate patient care across disciplines.
  • Responds promptly to workload changes, adjusting assignments to optimize productivity and efficiency.
  • Plans work steps considering time, supplies, and support needs to ensure success.
  • Follows safety rules, reports accidents, and addresses safety hazards. Communicates hazards to peers and management.
  • Maintains and properly cares for equipment and supplies, promoting safety and environmental practices.
  • Willing to travel to multiple Vascular Labs across the DFW area.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Associates or bachelor’s degree in Radiology Technology.
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in special procedures or cath labs.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
  • Must have ARRT certification in Radiology.
  • AART certification in Interventional Radiology (IR) is preferred.
  • Licensed Medical Radiologic Technologist (Texas Department of State Health Services).
