Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Radiation Therapist role based in Charleston, SC. The Radiation Therapist will deliver prescribed radiation treatments to patients, operate linear accelerators and related equipment, and verify treatment plans according to physician and dosimetrist specifications. Daily responsibilities include preparing patients for treatment, positioning and immobilizing patients accurately, reviewing treatment parameters, and documenting all procedures in the medical record. The role also involves performing quality assurance checks on equipment, monitoring patients for treatment-related side effects, and coordinating closely with radiation oncologists, medical physicists, dosimetrists, nurses, and other team members. The Radiation Therapist will promote radiation safety, support patient education, and contribute to a culture of respect, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Certification and credentials: Current registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiation Therapy or eligibility to obtain ARRT certification within required timeframes.
• Clinical radiation therapy expertise: Demonstrated knowledge of radiation safety, proper use of radiation therapy equipment, and adherence to regulatory and institutional protocols.
• Treatment planning and dosimetry: Ability to understand and apply dosimetry and treatment planning concepts, collaborate with dosimetrists and physicists, and verify treatment parameters accurately.
• Foundational medical knowledge: Understanding of radiation medicine principles, oncology care workflows, and the physical and psychological needs of individuals undergoing cancer treatment.
• Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Radiation Therapy or related field from an accredited program.
• Communication and teamwork: Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary care team and support diverse patients and families.
• Technical and organizational skills: Proficiency with electronic medical records and treatment delivery systems, attention to detail, and ability to manage schedules and workflows safely and efficiently.
• Additional preferred qualifications: Prior experience in a hospital-based or academic radiation oncology setting, experience with advanced techniques such as IMRT, IGRT, or stereotactic treatments, and commitment to ongoing professional development.
