Job summary

MUSC Health in Charleston, SC, seeks a Radiation Therapist to administer ionizing radiation according to the Radiation Oncologist’s prescription and to work with the clinical team for safe, effective treatment.

You will maintain patient charts, record dosage, equipment settings, and patient responses, and collaborate with oncology staff as needed. A graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy program with ARRT registry eligibility and current BLS certification are required.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited Radiation Therapy program and ARRT registry eligible.
• SCRQSA licensure required after ARRT certification.
• Current BLS certification (AHA or Red Cross) required.

Responsibilities

• Administers radiation therapy per prescription and documents dose and area treated.
• Maintains patient charts with treatment area, dosage, machine settings, and patient reactions.
• Consults with radiation oncologists and clinical staff as needed.

Job Description

Administers radiation therapy by exposing specific areas of the patient's body to prescribed doses of radiation. Maintains patient charts, noting such information as the area treated, the radiation dosage, equipment control settings, the patient's reactions, and the total amount of radiation received to date. Consults with radiation oncologists and other clinical staff as needed.

Additional Job Description

Education: Graduate from an accredited Radiation Therapy program and registry eligible with ARRT. Certification: After ARRT certification is obtained, licensure from the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association (SCRQSA) is required. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
